The idea for Requisit.io didn’t come out of nowhere. It all started with a big project where we needed a lot of costumes and props. You’d think it wouldn’t be a problem — but the right stuff just wasn’t available in our city. We had to travel to the capital and rent everything from warehouses there.
After the project was done, we wondered: how is that possible? Surely, the things we needed exist here! They’re just scattered around — stored in people’s summer houses, basements, attics, or in private collections of vintage and antique lovers. But who can find all that quickly? Definitely not in a few days.
That’s when the idea hit us: find people who still have old, vintage, or rare items lying around at home and invite them to list their treasures on a platform. This way, we could build a big database of interesting items — with exact locations and rental prices. This is super helpful when planning a project budget.
We all love to look for references — get inspired by photos on social media, find the right style, costumes, or interiors. But when it comes to actually finding real props, things get complicated: you have to spend time hunting flea markets, negotiating with museums, and waiting weeks for replies. It’s frustrating and slows down your work.
Requisit.io solves this problem: all the well-researched locations and the contacts of decision-makers are gathered in one place. Owners of locations can offer their contacts and make money by sharing them with creators through our platform.
And think about all those unique, valuable items that get thrown away because no one knows how to make use of them. People end up parting with their history or family heirlooms — but these things could be perfect for projects that need authentic, unique pieces.
Sadly, these items are becoming rarer every day. Just look at secondhand sale websites — there’s an incredible variety of unique finds! But buying them isn’t always an option — after the shoot or event, you have to figure out what to do with everything.
With Requisit.io, owners can rent out their items for photoshoots, videos, events, or performances — and get paid for it. Small prop studios can grow and add to their collections because now there’s a real marketplace — our platform — connecting owners and creators.
